HIV/AIDS continues being an important problem of health in countries of low and medial incomes.
There is enough evidence on the vulnerability of constructors of these countries to AIDS. The
objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge, perceptions and practices about AIDS, of constructors that worked in social and of the tourism works in the Municipality Trinidad, in October of 2018. A transversal study was materialized that consisted in the application of a questionnaire about the topic to these constructors. To examine possible associations among variables 9 models of logistical regression were adjusted. The relative opportunities (RO) were contemplated and the intervals of trust (IT) of 95%. It was considered the level of statistical significance for values of p <0,05. A total of 132 constructors coming from 28 municipalities of the country were interviewed. 59,1% possessed appropriate knowledge (p <0,05); 40,9% had an appropriate perception of the infection risk (p <0,01), and 40,9% manifested to have appropriate practices to the effects of prevention of AIDS (p <0,01). Associations were detected among knowledge, perceptions, and practices, with some variables used in the study. In spite of the prevalence of constructors with appropriate knowledge about AIDS, those that possessed a perception of the inadequate risk, and those that didn’t make a systematic use of the condom were majority. The necessity of promoting educational activities about the topic, directed to the group in question was demonstrated. The use of printed and visual materials could contribute favorably to its effectiveness.
