Individual-society integration has been one of the fundamental interests of the social sciences since their inception. None of the trends of thought that have devoted their studies throughout history to the analysis of social life of man escapes this concern, which has even been the center of gravity of important social theories. In the current educational context, the themes of youth socialization and participation are once again a target. The profound changes that have taken place in Cuban higher education with the appearance of new actors, the reintegration into the educational context of people from different working sectors -among them, some with no links to any job or study-, the presence of a new professorial staff with varied academic backgrounds, the different cultures that converge in the university space -not only from the artistic point of view, but also in their way of understanding the world, lifestyles, customs, sociocultural environment from which they come, ways of dressing, norms of social coexistence and collective, sociolinguistic codes that establish tastes, interests, beliefs, goals and life projects-, among other aspects, demonstrate the great diversity that characterizes this educational scenario. The objective of the present work is to examine the need of reinforcing by educational work the process of participation and political socialization taking place in Cuban universities at present.
