La formación inicial del maestro primario en Cuba se distingue y particulariza en cada momento
histórico concreto. Durante la etapa colonial surgen las Escuelas Normales. A partir de esta fecha se
dan altibajos en la apertura, funcionamiento y cierre de dichos centros, los que se hacen extensivos al
período de Intervención Militar Norteamericana y a lo largo de la República Neocolonial. A partir de
1959, se encamina la formación de manera coherente, articulada y estable. El proceso ha transitado
por las Escuelas de Maestros Primarios (1959- 1961), los planes de escuelas Minas, Topes, Tarará
(1961-1974), las escuelas formadoras de maestros primarios (1974- 1998) y Escuelas Pedagógicas
(2009- actualidad) como modelos de formación. Revelar las particularidades y principales rasgos de
estos modelos de formación constituye una necesidad. En consecuencia el presente artículo tiene
como objetivo describir la evolución histórica del proceso de formación regular de maestros primarios
en Cuba.Grupo II
The initial formation of the primary teacher in Cuba is distinguished and particularized in each
concrete historical moment. During the colonial period arise the Normal Schools. From this date, there
are ups and downs in the opening, operation and closure of these centers, which extend to the period
of American Military Intervention and throughout the Neocolonial Republic. Beginning in 1959, training
is conducted in a coherent, articulated and stable manner. The process has been carried out by the
Schools of Primary Teachers (1959-1961), the Minas Gerais, Topes, Tarará (1961-1974) schools,
primary teacher training schools (1974- 1998) and Pedagogical Schools (2009- present) As training
models. Revealing the particularities and main features of these training models is a necessity.
Consequently the present article aims to describe the historical evolution of the process of regular
training of primary teachers in Cuba.
