An experimental block design was used at random, with 5 treatments: A (NH4NO3 60 kg.ha-1); B (NH4NO3 120 kg.ha-1); C (NH4NO3 180 kg.ha-1), D (absolute control) and E (production control). Three replications were made, for a total of 15 plots, on a Carbonated Brown Soil floor. The morphological variables (plant height, stem thickness, root length, leaf area, fresh mass and dry mass) and growth rates (Foliar Area Ratio, Relative Growth Rate, Absolute Growth Rate, Net Assimilation Rate) for the five treatments. It was shown that treatment C reached the best morphological parameters in the different variables under study, with 56.32 grams of dry leaf mass per plant and 21 470 cm2 of leaf area above the control. Treatment C also obtained a higher rate of absolute growth, surpassing the other treatments under study with a gain of 2.3 grams of dry mass per day and was the treatment with the highest root growth, which resulted in a greater exploration of the floor by the plant.
